On the Patio

Patio 2

My favorite place to read in the summertime is on the patio.  We've been growing vines for years now, and now they're finally grown enough to provide some shade.  The best times to sit out are in the morning or after dinner, when it's not so hot.

One of my recent favorites is to take a good book and my breakfast out to the picnic table.  My favorites this week are The Moon and More, Orange Juice, and a bowl of granola.  It's a great way to start the day.  And who knows... I might even take some of the letters I'm writing outside!

Library Finds 1

Library Finds | 1

I went to a library in the next town over today and checked out some books that I have been wanting to read for a while.  Recovery Road by Blake Nelson and Party by Tom Leveen.  I have a massive to-read list on goodreads, so I'm trying to find some of them in the library this summer.  What's on your summer reading list?

Cousin Care Package

There's something you should know about our family christmas parties.  We play games.  Lots of them!  Trivia, Bingo, Puzzles, Word Games.  The only thing we don't do is charades.

Last Christmas, it was a tie between my mom and my cousin Carly for the "BIG" bingo prize. My mom offered it to Carly and it turned out to be a giant pez dispenser.  Oddly enough, my mom collects pez dispensers.  So she made Carly a deal -- She would take the pez dispenser, and in return, she would knit Carly a pair of socks.

C Package 3

Six months later, the socks are complete!  My mom asked me if I would put together a little note and package so that she could take them to the post office and mail them.

C Package 1

I'm still working on finding an envelope that will fit everything, but they should be in the mail later today.  Better late than never!

Yard Sale Finds

It's Yard Sale season!! There were so many sales in my town (& neighboring towns!) that I had to sit down with the newspaper and decide which ones seemed the most promising.  The one that mentioned scrapbooking paper and rubber stamps definitely made the list.

Flea Market Find 1

12 sheets for 1 dollar?  I'll take it!

Flea Market Find 2

Rubber stamps for 50 cents.

Flea Market Find 3

Funny buttons for 1 nickel.  There were a lot more, but I gave the rest of them to my brother because he likes to put them on his jacket.

Flea Market Finds 4-5

Old fashioned tins for a quarter a piece.  I have big ideas for these!  So far, I am using the oreo to store my tape collection.
